The Effects of the Mandala Group Art Therapy Program on Mother-Child Interaction

Abstract
This study is intended to find out the effects of the Mandala group Art therapy program on the interaction between the mother and a middle school child. The subjects of the study are 20 mothers who have experience of trouble with their children of a 'B' middle school in a 'c' small city. The subjects are divided into the control group of 10 persons and the experimental group of 10 persons. The experiment group received Mandala Group Art therapy program consist of 1 (12 in total) session a week in term and each session lasting 150 minutes. Research instruments used for the effectiveness of the program are pretest?posttestfor the measures of Mother-Child Interaction, Repeated Measurement of ANCOVA to analyze the data collected as well as developed by Hetherington & Clingempeel(1992), adapted by Moon, Kyungju ? Oh Kyungja(1995). The results of the research has been turned out as following. First, Mandala Group Art Therapy Program takes effect on mother-child interaction and PDB(Parent Displine Behavior) degree, and EAP(Expression of Affection) degree. Furthermore, through the phased procedure of Mandala Group Art Therapy Program, personal sensibilities such as rage, depression, loss of identity, and lethargy of oneself is changed by means of perception of the shadow and ego integration. As a result one can face up to the reality and find out acceptance of oneself and of their children and the meaning of the life, so one can design their life devoted to reality.
